Military threatened to deal with Militants if they fail to ceasefire


Defence Headquarters released a statement saying that, the authorities have ordered that the military will abide with the ongoing negotiation effort of the Federal Government alongside the militants in the pursue for peaceful settlement of the Niger Delta Issues.


In the cause of achieving this, the military has warned that it would not tolerate “any individual or group taking its good gesture of adherence to ceasefire  and peaceful disposition to the impasse for granted”.


Therefore, they will respond appropriately to any armed attacks against their location in a decisive but professional manner, in line with its constitutional mandate of the defending innocent citizens as well as national critical infrastructures.

However, the Military had state that the Armed Forces have all it takes to defend itself and at such warns various belligerent groups in the Niger Delta and other parts of the nation to desist from any act capable of jeopardizing peace and security in the country or they will regret the consequences of their actions.
